Homes Unique

Some homes I have seen in movies have inspired me to add a small piece of them to this humble home here. The homes are truly magnificent and although some are 1960's - 1970's they remain modern - ahead of their time. Modern homes of today are soul - less, no character and bland. You know the type ... McHouses : you can have one of 5 styles in 5 different colours. Mass produced, hideous things.

Hitchcock Movie - North By Northwest.

A great example of a 1960's home that its unique even today. It is classic modern architecture of the era, but could be easily 'new' today.

It is at ease with its landscape and not out of place at all.

James Bond - Diamonds Are Forever.

Elrod House in Palm Springs designed by John Lautner.

Sean Connery enters the lounge only to be wrestled by two women in a Bikini ! The first female slides off this huge rock in the lounge, which you can see at the far left of the room view window. Beautiful use of natural stone on floors and as features. The lounge has a sphere shape - ultra modern, but again 1960's.

The whole building, although thoroughly modern, blends in with the environment. It has a serene affect.

~~~
Monterey California.
Play Misty For Me - Clint Eastwood.
To best see this house, you have to see the movie. It has been really difficult to find any pics of this unique home. Really, go hire the movie and have a good look and fall in love...Clints not bad either! The pic here does not depict it in its true beauty.
The home was literally by the ocean and hear and see the waves ! It had a lot of timber and stone use. There was a unique use of stepping stones over water from the master bedroom to the garden gated entrance. (only seen in movie). A realxed 'beachy' ambience to the home.
These are from Carmel California.
The natural use of elements uch as the carved stone for a pond on crushed gravel with minimal use of plants. Great for difficult to grow landscapes.
Oh This one... well just for fun. Its the upside down house in the USA. Only in America would they make something so silly ! LOL
Would you believe, not actually someones house, but somethings house...
Its the chicken coup - Scotland.
Home Beautiful
All of us at one stage dream of our ideal home and the dream can change many times. There are so many beautiful homes in the world, but so many more ugly, impractical & badly made. This I have noticed in the last 10 years of house buying, selling and browsing. I really don't understand why builders, councils and developers don't all build beautiful homes as they always sell so much better. I have chosen some inspirational homes, to me.
I have always liked the Californian Bungalow type home. I like natural materials to be featured. Stone and wood are my favorite. Weatherboards always have a 'beach' feel to it.
This is the house used in the TV series "Six Feet Under". I love the series and the home. It has what seemes to be a whole menagery of rooms inside. High celings, wide doorways with timber arcs & skirts, lots of traditional style living spaces. The house is almost gothic, but with a modern bungalow spin on it.
Interiors are what makes you feel at home, at peace, comfortable and relaxed. Again the natural elements within make me feel close to nature and relaxed. Natural materials have their own beauty. Everyone should have a fireplace of combustion fire heater (except those in the all year round warm climate). A place to watch the flames and snuggle in or fall asleep. The stone work around the fire area really gives it a country, cabin, cosy element. This is what is planned for our fireplace. We will do the laying ourselves to cut costs.
Big open lounge with centre piece feature being the fireplace. The stone & wood compliment each other.
TV Families
Families are complicated. Take mine for instance... best that names are witheld LMAO as they are likely to sue LMFAO. You grow up with these people. You live with these people. You know more than you need to about these people. But would you choose them as friends? Depends what kind of family you grew up in. This is a comical view of how I see my family versus TV family.
As a child this is what I believed my family to be.
That would make me Cindy as the youngest, most naieve, but without the speech impediment. And yes I had a sister who was SO Marcia ! Marcia, Marcia, Marcia..... she probably still is so Marcia. However I have to thankfully say there was no gay father, nor mother - son ugliness offscreen...ewwww.
As I grew up, out of childhood innocence, I realised this is the family I really belonged to !
Sometimes cooky and sometimes spooky and mostly quite irregular
That would make me Wednesday, but I didn't have a headless doll that I can recall? Although I did grow up to be somewhat alternative.
Scarily, there is a family portrait similar to this one and I have often commented to my siblings that we are the Addams family
Anyone know where I can get a house like this? I do quite like it. Lick of paint and it will look amazing LOL.
I'm sure there is many families out there similar?? Aren't there? Someone.......?
Unable to Sleep
Sleep has evaded me tonight, so here I am again at the computer with a cup of camomile tea (they say it aids sleep?). So I got browsing and thought I'd start a blog about nothing really. Just pieces of my life, thoughts, bla bla. Reading some of this might get you and myself some sleep...
Good Night !
